What Happens Next? is the 9th episode (10th in earlier airings) of Dora the Explorer from Season 3.

Dora and Boots read the fairytale "Three Little Pigs", and wonder what happens after the end, so they use their imaginations to continue the story, setting off on an adventure in their minds: they have to bring the King's Mommy back to his son, King Juan el Bobo.

Dora and Boots are going to read the fairytale of the 3 little pigs. The first little pig built his house made out of straw. And the big bad wolf huffed and puffed and blew it down. The first little pig went to the second little pig who built his house out of sticks. And the big bad wolf huffed and puffed and the stick house down. The little pigs went to the third little pig's house who built his out of bricks. The big bad wolf huffed and puffed but he could not blow the brick house down. The big bad wolf gave up and ran all the way home. It was the end of the story but Boots wanted to know what happens next. So, Dora and Boots stopped and thought about it. They decided to use their imaginations and make up the rest of the story. The third little pig was bold in all the land. A lot of animals come to cheer for the pig. Soon, the king heard the story and went to visit the little pigs. The Fiesta Trio come along too. The king walks over to the brave third little pig and gave him a medal. He then congratulated the pig for being so brave. The king needed someone brave and fearless to bring his mommy home. The king really misses her and she is very far away, but he was too scared because he would have to go past bears, giants, and dragons! "Oooh!", they all said after the king mentions each of what he has to go past. Only someone brave and fearless can make such a journey. "Oh no, your majesty. No, no, no. I'm not brave enough and I'm not fearless", the little pig said to the king. "And I'm too scared to get your mommy. Sorry!" And the three little pigs went into their brick house and closed the door. Just then, a monkey named Boots rides on a horse along side his best friend Dora. And they thought they were brave and fearless enough to bring the king's mom back home. Dora tells the king, "Don't worry king. We're brave and fearless." "Yeah, we'll bring your mommy back home" answers Boots. "Yay for Dora and Boots," cheered the Fiesta Trio. The king thanks them and the two were off on their quest. But first, Dora and Boots had to find out where to go to find the King's mom. They ask Map for help. Map says that Dora and Boots had to visit the three bears' house, visit Jack's beanstalk, and help a dragon at the rainbow. "Try and catch stars along the way!" Map said. So, Dora and Boots got going. "Hurry, hurry the king's all alone. Let's get the king's mommy and bring her back home," they sang. The 7 dwarfs were alone each night until they met Snow White. They find Cinderella but her clothes are a mess. To get to the ball, she needs a new dress. After that, Dora and Boots arrive the 3 bears house. Inside, they find out someone ate the porridge and broke a chair. They also find that someone is sleeping in one of the 3 beds. It was Goldilocks. She wakes up and introduces herself to Dora and Boots. Suddenly, the 3 bears come home and they were very disappointed. Dora and Boots imagined something positive: they wanted the bears to be friendly. Goldilocks explains to the 3 bears that she got hungry and ate a bowl of porridge and she also explains that she wanted to sit down but broke a chair and gives them an apology. The bears accepted her apology and asked her to fix it. Dora and Boots help too. To fix the chair, they had to find the stick that's not too long, not too short, but just the right size. And in no time, the chair was fixed. Baby Bear tries the chair and it was comfortable. Dora and Boots explained to the bears that they had to go now. They were on their way to see the King's mommy and bring her home to the king. The 3 bears and Goldilocks wishes them good luck. They exited Goldilocks and the 3 Bears house. Now, they had to go visit the Jack and the giant's beanstalk. Along the way, Little Red Riding Hood has treats in a brown box. She had to be careful because there was a fox behind her. Dora and Boots noticed that Swiper is following her. So they stopped him from swiping Little Red Riding Hood's brown box of goodies and he ran away. And Little Red Riding Hood gives the brown box of goodies to her grandma. Once Dora and Boots got to the beanstalk, they see Jack climbing down it holding a golden egg. Suddenly, they hear a deep loud voice that went "Fee-fi-fo-fum!". It was coming from the giant as he carries lots of golden eggs and he was very angry. So, Dora and Boots imagine something positive for the giant. They suggest that he should be nice and give Jack more golden eggs. But the giant accidentally drops them. The giant was upset because he had 12 golden eggs and now they are lost. But, Dora, Boots, and Jack managed to find the 12 golden eggs. The giant collects the golden eggs he dropped and puts them into a sack along with the one Jack has for a total of 13. Jack and the giant wave goodbye as they continue their quest to find the King's mom. So far, they visited the three bears' house and the beanstalk. Now, they just have to go to the rainbow to find the King's mom. Dora and Boots couldn't see the rainbow. All they saw was clouds. Suddenly, they heard stars and they even saw an explorer star named Gusty. They had to catch all the stars. All the stars except Gusty went into the star pocket and Gusty was ready to help. The viewer had to say the Spanish word "sopla" to help Gusty blow away the clouds. Gusty uses the ability to blow the clouds away revealing the rainbow. As Dora and Boots got going to the rainbow, they find a dragon roaring at them. Dora and Boots suggest the dragon should be friendly. As the dragon flies down to solid ground, it gets a thorn on its foot. Dora immediately pulls the thorn out of the dragon's foot with no problem. But now, they need something to cover the boo-boo. Dora checks her Backpack for a bandage. After finding the bandage, Backpack thought of something nice for the dragon by giving a lollipop. Dora and Boots tells the dragon they're going to the rainbow. The dragon offers them a ride. In no time, they manage to go over the rainbow. Then, Dora and Boots find the King's Mom. Dora explains to the king's mom that he misses her so much. And the king's mom said she misses her son so much. So the King's mom, Dora, and Boots ride on the dragon up into the sky and return to the king. Later at the three pigs' houses, the king is crying because he still wants his mommy. The viewer tells the king that his mommy is flying on the dragon. The king gets excited because his mommy is coming. The dragon flies down and the King's mommy, Dora and Boots jump off and not too long after, the king and his mommy were back together again.

This episode can be found on the DVD titled "Fairytale Adventure".

  • Swiper replaces the wolf in the Red Riding Hood sequence.
  • Dora and Boots only travel in their minds instead of real life this time.
  • This is the first episode for both King Juan el Bobo and the Giant-Giant respectively.
    • King Juan el Bobo however was referred to as simply "King" in this episode. His full name was not revealed until “A Crown for King Juan el Bobo”. He never even existed in real life until the aforementioned episode as well. Additionally, the Giant-Giant never existed in real life until "Dora's Fairytale Adventure".
    • This is the only episode where King Juan el Bobo is voiced by Jeff DeGrandis (supervising producer of the show). In "A Crown for King Juan el Bobo", he will be voiced by guest star Cheech Marin and in "Dora's Dance to the Rescue", he will be voiced by Julian Rebolledo.
    • Also, this is the only episode where the Giant-Giant is voiced by Brian Maya (the same person who voiced the Dog Catcher in Save the Puppies!). Starting with "Dora's Fairytale Adventure", he will be voiced by Leslie Valdes (husband of the show's co-creator Valerie Walsh Valdes).
      • Coincidentally, both of these episodes (this and the aforementioned episode) were put together on the Fairytale Adventure DVD, and the Giant-Giant appears in both episodes.
  • Dora and Boots sing Hurry, Hurry in place of the Travel Song. When they sing it the second time, they technically cut it off.
  • Dora and Boots travel to all the places they are supposed to go but when they find the three bears, the giant and the dragon, all of them are seen mad at first but Dora and Boots are always using their minds to change their attitudes right away to happy and positive.
    • Surprisingly, the giant (known as the Giant-Giant for all his later appearances) alone would remain completely happy and positive throughout all his later appearances, namely in "Dora's Fairytale Adventure" (in which he had a slightly important role in than in any other episode he appeared in), "Dora Saves the Three Little Pigs" (in which he only makes a cameo), and "Super Babies Dream Adventure".
      • Speaking of the episode "Super Babies Dream Adventure", the Giant-Giant has a baby brother who like himself, is a giant as well.
      • A different giant that is a female appears in “Dora’s Hair-Raising Adventure”, though based on their skin tone and personality, it is likely that they could be related with one another (wife, mother or sister). If she's the Giant-Giant's wife, it would also make her the stepsister of the Baby Giant from "The Super Babies Dream Adventure." On the other hand, if she's his mother, it would instead also make her the mother of the Baby Giant. Furthermore, if she's his sister (most likely she is), it would instead also make her the biological sister of the Baby Giant.
      • A set of twin giants appeared in "Dora Saves King Unicornio", and their character models are exactly the same as the Giant-Giant, recolored to distinguish them from the aforementioned character.
      • Finally, a giant that is known as the Mean Giant, whom unlike the Giant-Giant (or rather any other giant), has always remained mad, mean and negative, appeared in the sequel to "Dora's Fairytale Adventure", titled “Dora Saves Fairytale Land”.
  • In this episode, the stars did not appear until Dora and Boots were heading to their destination. This happens again in "The Super Silly Fiesta" and "Dora's Fairytale Adventure".
    • This may lead to one who doesn't remember what happens in this episode or hasn't seen and watched it before wondering when the stars are going to show up (since Map mentioned about star catching in this episode), and then be surprised once the stars appear as Dora and Boots are heading to the final destination.
  • This is the first episode where the Fiesta Trio use a different "¡Estrellas!" audio (excluding Star Catcher, which aired before this one in earlier airings). However, the old audio from The Lost City would return in a couple later episodes (Baby Dino, Boots' Special Day, and Louder!).
  • This is the second and last episode where the title is named after a question, first being Whose Birthday is It?.
  • Dora and Boots use their imaginations to control everything, except when Swiper appears trying to swipe Little Red Riding Hood's basket. They did not use their minds to change him to his good side and not to swipe anything, something that Swiper did not express until Season 4 episode "Swiper the Explorer".
  • This is the tenth episode where Dora and Boots returned to where they started from after reaching the final place on the map, which also occurred in Three Little Piggies, Big River, Berry Hunt, The Chocolate Tree, El Día De Las Madres, Click!, A Present for Santa, School Pet, and Save the Puppies!.
  • This is the 62nd episode of the show (63rd in earlier airings).
  • This the second episode where a bandage and a lollipop are the correct items in Backpack, first being Doctor Dora.

  • The rainbow, or el acro iris, did not have an orange, indigo, or purple stripe, three colors that a rainbow has in real life.
