Louder! is the 20th episode of Dora the Explorer from Season 3.

In production order, it is the 3rd episode of Season 3.

Dora and Boots need to help their friend Red Rooster get to the Highest Hill so he can wake up the sun, Because all their friends are still sleeping in their pajamas. Will you help them get the morning started?

It all started after finding the lost Cuddly Dinosaur from the Play Park in the previous episode and even learning all of jobs about growing up in the airing order episode, Dora and Boots headed outside in their pajamas to watch Red Rooster climb to the top of the highest hill (a place that appeared once again after the Season 2 episode The Magic Stick). However, he actually appears in Dora's yard instead, so she sees him and gasps. Red Rooster explains that he had a sore throat and could not crow. Dora calls out to her mother to tell her that Red Rooster's throat is sore and could not crow to wake up the sun. Mamí explains that if the sun keeps sleeping it would be dark all day. So they get a jar of honey out of Backpack as medicine. Dora’s mom feeds the honey to Red Rooster and sang her feel better song in Spanish. Now, Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster have to go to the highest hill to wake up the sun. The problem is they do not know the quickest way to get there. So they ask Map for assistance. Map says that they have to go across the noisy river and over the troll bridge to get to the highest hill. He also tells them not to forget about star-catching along the way. En route to the noisy river, they crow like roosters to wake up the frogs. At the Noisy River, they saw El Bote sleeping, so they crow like a rooster until he wakes up and gives them a ride. Shortly before putting their life jackets on, they hear Swiper the fox (who is also in his pajamas). Swiper will try to swipe their lifejackets, so Dora, Boots and Red Rooster have to shout "Swiper, No Swiping!" three times as loud as they can. During the boat ride, Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster have to avoid the snakes. After that, they head to the troll bridge. Along the way, they catch the 2 white stars and a red star, including Noisy Star, who is a male instead of female, like in Stuck Truck. Afterwards, they make it to the troll bridge, where the grumpy tells Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster to find all the loud things. Out of the four things (a drum, a siren, a feather, and radio), three of them were loud and the feather is quiet. After figuring out how many loud things there are, Grumpy Old Troll asks the viewer how many loud things he/she found and Dora, Boots, Red Rooster, and the viewer told him there were three. After that, he lets Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster over his bridge. He then wishes them good luck for waking up the sun. After crossing the troll bridge, Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster saw 5 pigs in their pajamas and were sleeping in their way and crow to wake up the pigs. The pigs wonder where the sun is and why it is not up, and Boots says that he, Dora, and Red Rooster are on their way to wake up the sun right now, and Red Rooster is late. Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster then reach the highest hill. They climbed up the hill and raise the loud-o-meter, with a little help from Noisy Star, and wake up the sun, causing everyone, including their friends, to wake up.

This episode can be found in Catch the Stars and Dora's Slumber Party on DVD.

  • This is the 2nd episode to show the characters in their pajamas, after near the end of Boots' Cuddly Dinosaur. This would happen again one more time in the episode Catch the Babies.
  • This is the first episode to feature Map's standard season 3 onwards song with him singing "I'm the Map" four times followed by the Fiesta Trio singing "He's the Map" four times. This doesn't happen again until Dora's Pirate Adventure and Dora Saves the Mermaids.
  • This is the only episode when Map says "Say it with me real loud!". This will be reused again in an updated version of Dora's Friendship Fiesta.
  • This is the 70th episode of the show.
  • Papi and Abuela do not appear in this episode or were seen in their pajamas.
  • This is the second episode where Dora and Boots go to the Highest Hill, first being The Magic Stick.
  • In the beginning of this episode, Dora does not say "¡Hola, soy Dora!", she instead says "¡Buenos días!". Also, Boots does not say "And I'm Boots!" to greet the viewer after Dora, he instead says "Good morning!".
  • This is the last episode (in airing order) where Mami is voiced by Eileen Galindo. She was replaced by Socorro Santiago starting with the previous episode and for all of Season 4.
  • In this episode, when Dora and Boots sing the Travel Song:
    • They don't ask "Where are we going?" or the last place, they instead say "What are we gonna do?" and don't clap at all before answering "Cock-a-doodle-doo", just like in Season 1 and the Season 2 episode "The Big Storm". After this episode though, clapping is put to mandatory use.
    • After Boots says "Come on, let's get to it," Dora does not say "I know that we can do it," instead Red Rooster says it.
  • This is the last episode to use the 4-second Nick Jr. Productions logo variant.
  • The noisy river's sound effects were recycled from "Hic-Boom-Ohhh!"
  • When Dora and Boots are singing the Travel Song, Dora doesn't say her own line "I know that we can do it", Red Rooster says that line instead, and as they're finishing it, they don't spin around and jump up in the air yelling "cock a doodle doo", they just walk, laugh and say that line while flapping their arms instead, they also don't say the place they're going either, they say "cock a doodle doo".
  • Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster only sing the Travel Song once.
  • The scene where the Explorer Stars and Noisy peak out of the star pocket is seen in the Season 3-4 intro.
  • When Map says "Try and catch stars along the way!", the audio is taken from The Lost City.
  • Isa, Tico, Benny, the Blue Bird Family, and Big Red Chicken have non-speaking cameos in their pajamas.
    • However, Benny and Isa's voice actors are listed in the credits.
  • Diego doesn't appear in this episode (if one is watching this in airing order, because this episode was produced before his debut episode) or in his pajamas until Catch the Babies.
  • Scenes from this episode were featured in the Drake & Josh episode "The Storm" as Crazy Steve watches it. However, he mentions that Dora had to go to a banana tree, except there's no banana tree in this episode as it's actually about Dora and Boots going to Highest Hill as their real last place destination for Red Rooster to wake up the sun with his wake call "cock a doodle doo", so Crazy Steve made a mistake about how this episode goes.
  • This episode, along with The Lost City, Save the Puppies!, Baseball Boots, Boots' Special Day, To the South Pole and Boots' Cuddly Dinosaur are tied for the second least amount of stars caught by four.
  • This is the last Season 3 episode featuring star-catching, and the last episode produced to feature the star-catching format all together. However, the real last star-catching episode is Best Friends as the final episode produced in Season 3.
    • It's also the last episode produced where Dora puts the stars in the star pocket.
    • Coincidentally, in this episode and The Lost City (which introduced the star catching), only four stars were caught.
    • This is the last episode where the star pocket appears and disappears off of Backpack before being seen permanently whenever Dora faces right in Season 4, despite the fact the stars appear very little throughout the season.
  • Dora did not say "Good finding!" at the end of Noisy Star's minigame.
  • When Dora and Boots talk about their favorite parts and count the stars they caught at the end of the episode, they were changed into their regular clothes due to cartoon logic. However, it is possible that they enter Dora's house and they change their clothes when the sun now rises.
  • When Dora and Boots say, "Oh no!", the audio is taken from A Present for Santa.
  • This is the last episode where the "¡Estrellas!" audio from The Lost City is used.
  • This episode aired the same day as the Basra Bombings that happened in Iraq.
  • When Dora says "¡Vamonos!" while heading to the Troll Bridge, the audio is taken from To the Treehouse.
  • This marks the second time the Grumpy Old Troll said "I can't hear you!". The first time was in "The Fix-it Machine".

  • This is another episode where Noisy Star is referred as a male after Stuck Truck, although Noisy Star is actually a female.
  • In the credits, it says "Louder". The exclamation mark is left out.
  • In real life, the sun:
    • Does not sleep, but give light to different areas of the Earth at different times.
    • Does not wake up as a result of any loud noises, such as a rooster crowing.
    • Does not necessarily wake everyone up, as some people have alarms that wake them up before dawn, or even wake up later than the sun rises, such as those who have night jobs or party until 2AM.
    • Rises and sets on its own, regardless of the noise levels.
      • Additionally, in real life there is no rooster that wakes everyone up at morning time. Some people have night jobs and therefore sleep during the day, and others stay up until 2AM and sleep in therefore.

Running Gags[]

  • Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster keep yelling "Louder!" to the viewer, which is what Dora and Boots usually do when he/she (the viewer) needs to say something louder or to just get his/her attention if he/she is not saying anything.
  • Red Rooster saying "I'm late!".
  • Dora, Boots, and Red Rooster keep yelling "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" to wake everyone up because they need to practice being loud to wake up the sun.
