Kathleen Herles (born November 13, 1990) is an American voice actress, best known for being the original voice of Dora on Dora the Explorer (in seasons 1-4) and Go, Diego, Go!.

Herles was born in Queens, New York City. Her parents are from Lima, Peru. She has studied ballet, tap, jazz, drama, hip-hop, and voice. She also took piano lessons. She was discovered by talent manager Shirley Grant of Shirley Grant Management at a talent and modeling convention when she was 4 years old.

She is a 2008 graduate of Deer Park High School, where she appeared in school productions of "The Wiz," and "Footloose."

In 2008, Herles stopped doing the voice for Dora and was replaced by Caitlin Sanchez. She was also going to college. However, she continued the role on Go, Diego, Go! until 2009.

She graduated from Pace University in 2012.

  • Kathleen's favourite Dora episodes are Dora's Fairytale Adventure and Dora's Pirate Adventure.
  • Kathleen loves Dora because she's cute.
  • She was 7 when she began voicing Dora and was 9 when the show premiered. She had gotten the part the same day she auditioned.[1]
  • Although Kathleen stopped doing the voice of Dora in Dora the Explorer, she continued to do her voice in Go, Diego, Go!, as well as select toys and games produced between 2007 and 2008. She completely stopped voicing Dora in 2009.
    • Herles' final time providing the voice of Dora, along with the original cast of Go, Diego, Go! (like Jake T. Austin), was in the double-length special, The Great Polar Bear Rescue, which aired on September 18, 2009.
  • In Dora's Got a Puppy, she also did the voice of the Robot Butterfly.
  • In Dora's Fairy Godmother Rescue, she did the voice of Cinderella. This was the first time she appeared and returned on the show since her departure in 2007. (Tiktok)
  • She appeared in Sesame Street Episode 3908, later released on video as Computer Caper in 2002. She was also credited as a child extra in the 2000 video Let's Make Music.
  • Her voice as Dora from "Dora saves the mermaids!" can be heard in an archive footage of Dora’s rescue in mermaid kingdom.
