Blast into outer space with Dora and Boots on an out-of-this-world adventure to bring five stranded space creatures named Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al back home to the Purple Planet!
Plot[]
One starry night, Dora and Boots looked at the sky with a telescope. Boots would like to meet the five space creatures that live in space. Suddenly, a purple flying saucer streaks through the night sky. A beam of light shines and the flying saucer comes down to solid ground. Boots climbs onto Dora's back and looks over her head to find the five space creatures that came out of the flying saucer. The colors of the space creatures were green, red, yellow, orange, and blue. Flinky was the green one, Inky was the red one, Plinky was the yellow one, Dinky was the orange one, and Al was the blue one.
After the space creatures introduced themselves, they all sit down and point to the purple planet. Dora and Boots look at the purple planet and asked if the five space creatures live there. They do so live on the purple planet and they want to go home. Suddenly, the flying saucer breaks apart. The five space creatures were stranded and just have to get home to the purple planet.
Dora and Boots had to figure out how to get to the purple planet. They ask Rocket Map and he says that Dora and Boots have to travel into outer space to bring Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al back home to the purple planet. Before they can get there, they have to go through the Milky-way and past the space rocks to get to the purple planet. Dora and Boots had to look through the telescope for the Milky-way. They find it, but had to figure out how to get there.
What they need is a rocket ship. Dora and Boots saw a rocket ship by the tall trees. Then they realized that Isa just got a new rocket ship. Boots asks Isa if they can borrow the rocket ship because it was important. Isa replies and reminds Dora and Boots that they needed to wear spacesuits so they can be safe in outer space. Dora checks her Backpack for a spacesuit for herself and a spacesuit for Boots.
When Dora and Boots put on their spacesuits, including their space helmets, Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al scurried into the rocket ship and Dora and Boots followed. Isa wishes them good luck. Dora, Boots and the five space creatures take their seats. They put their seatbelts on so they can be safe. To blast off, they all counted down (or backwards) from ten to one. So they started with ten: "Ten, nine, eight, seven, six, five, four, three, two, one! Blast off!" they all said. The Rocket Ship says "Arriba" and the others copy him.
Once the rocket ship was in outer space, Dora and Boots take their space helmets off and set them aside. They saw constellations which happened to be a group of stars in a picture-formation. After finding the constellations, they saw white fog that looks like milk. It was the milky-way. They couldn't see where they were going. Suddenly, a female voice tells the space explorers how to get through the Milky-way. All they had to do is connect the dots. They started with one and counted up to six.
When they were done connecting the dots, it made a constellation picture of a teddy bear. They made a teddy bear constellation. "To get through the Milky-Way, go this way" she says as the teddy bear constellation points to the right. Dora and Boots pilot the rocket ship in the direction the teddy bear constellation was pointing. They thank the teddy bear constellation has they traveled through the Milky-way.
After going through the Milky-way, Dora and Boots pilot the rocket ship pass some planets of different colors. After that, a symbol telling the space explorers to take off their seat-belts appears. They did so and soon they started floating because there was no gravity in outer space. Al's stomach growls. Boots thought Al must be hungry. They had to find the door that has food inside. Boots finds a picture of an apple on one of the six doors which signifies that it's the food door. Boots opens the food door and the space food flies out and is all over the place.
The viewer finds an orange for Dinky. She peels the orange and eats the whole thing. Now the viewer finds the floating hot dogs for the five space creatures. And now, the viewer has to find the space cookies. The space cookies were out of the space explorer's reach and started to float away from them. Dora, Boots, and the five space creatures have to space swim to the cookies. They did so and they each took a bite out of them. After their space snack, a comet streaks past. Boots wanted to catch a ride on the comet. Comets go very fast. Dora activates the comet catcher. Everybody on the rocket ship had to buckle back up to catch a ride on the comet. The comet catcher grabs the comet and they all got a very fast ride.
After that, Boots realized that the comet had taken them to the space rocks. The rocket ship needed to avoid colliding with these rocks. The viewer instructed the rocket ship to go "arriba," meaning up. The rocket ship skillfully dodged three space rocks of different sizes. Dora fastened her seatbelt as they ascended and thanked the viewer for helping the rocket ship navigate past the obstacles by saying, "Arriba!" Boots then brought Dora back down to her seat, where she secured her seatbelt once more. Dora and Boots were so close to taking Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al back home to the purple planet.
Just as Dora flipped the lever, the rocket ship suddenly broke down. Boots wondered what had happened. A buzzing sound indicated that the battery symbol on the rocket ship’s dashboard was lit up. They soon realized that the battery was out of power and needed to be replaced. A new battery emerged from the battery compartment. The five space creatures exited the rocket ship to install the new battery, making sure to hold onto the rope to avoid floating away.
Suddenly, they heard Swiper the fox. Boots thought it was impossible, and that there was no way Swiper could be in outer space. Just then, they spotted Swiper wearing a space suit and helmet, riding a mini rocket ship, attempting to swipe the battery! Dora, Boots, and the five space creatures had to stop Swiper. Together, they shouted "Swiper, no swiping!" three times, and afterward, Swiper flew his mini rocket ship back to Earth.
Soon after, the five space creatures replaced the worn-out battery with a fresh one from the battery compartment. In no time, the rocket ship rebooted. Dora flipped the switch again, and she and Boots were able to take Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al back home to the purple planet. The rocket ship landed on the purple planet, and everyone got out of their seats. Dora and Boots put their space helmets back on and together, they exited the rocket ship. As they followed the path, they started to float a little while trying to walk.
Dora and Boots needed to find the five space creatures' home, which was far away. The group hopped onto a moving sidewalk and enjoyed a ride to the five space creatures' home. Finally, the five space creatures were back safe and sound on the purple planet. The episode ends with Dora and Boots returning to Earth to bring Isa her rocket ship. They are excited about the possibility of seeing their alien friends on another outer space adventure, along with a new character in the future!

Trivia[]
- There are no Explorer Stars in this episode, so a Character Find of Little Star plays at the end because she's not like an explorer star.
- This is the last Season 3 episode without star-catching after Rescue, Rescue, Rescue! and ABC Animals. In production order, this is the first.
- Benny and Tico do not appear in this episode.
- A video game of the same name was released on October 13, 2005, two weeks and one day before this episode premiered.
- All the items not used in Backpack (except the flippers) are from past episodes.
- If counting the Noggin premiere of "To the South Pole" in September 2004, this is the Season 3 finale.
- Dora and Boots don't sing the original Travel Song in this episode, they instead sing the Outer Space Travel Song, which is about looking for things in space (constellations the first time and planets the second time).
- This is the last episode where Isa is forest green instead of lime green.
- This is the first and only episode Flinky, Inky, Plinky, Dinky, and Al stop Swiper with Dora and Boots.
- Isa's rocket ship looks similar to the one from The Missing Piece. Only this time, it's sentient, and on the inside, when counting backwards before blast off, the numbers appear on a screen rather than flashing buttons with each number.
- During Map's segment:
- He is dressed like a rocket ship to go with the theme for this episode (outer space).
- Going by production order, this is the first episode to use the Fiesta Trio's second variant of "He's the Map, He's the Map!", which debuted in ¡Por Favor! in airing order.
- When Map tells the viewer how Dora and Boots get to the Purple Planet, he demonstrates the instructions. This is the second time he does this after Super Map!, except this time, the screen shows a close up of Map's demonstrations. This will be put to permanent use as of Season 7.
- When Dora checks Backpack for spacesuits, the objects don't come out of her and they don't spin around either, they're already just immediately showing around her instead. This also occurred in Dora Saves the Prince, when she checked Backpack the second time.
- It is unknown how Swiper and the Fiesta Trio got into outer space.
- This is the tenth episode where Dora and Boots returned to where they started from after reaching the final place on the map and the third time doing it during the We Did It song. The other times they went back to the start were Three Little Piggies, Berry Hunt, The Chocolate Tree, El Día De Las Madres, Click!, A Present For Santa, School Pet, Save the Puppies!, and What Happens Next?.
- Also, after Dora and Boots sing We Did It! the Blue Cursor doesn't click on Dora, it instead clicks on the rocket ship as it was about to arrive back on Earth.
- This is the 85th episode of the show (86th if counting the Noggin premiere of "To the South Pole").
- In the episode, Swiper doesn't swipe the battery, but in the online storybook based on this episode, he does.
- This is the last episode to find Little Star.
- Irony: Dora and Boots could have taken off their spacesuits during the Favorite Parts segment.
- Although this episode was produced in Season 3, it aired in October 2005 during Season 4.
- When this episode premiered, the Nick Jr. block ran a marathon with this episode's premiere being second. The episodes aired were Doctor Dora (at 9:00am, an hour and a half before the premiere), Big Sister Dora, Super Babies, Catch the Babies, Dora Had a Little Lamb, and Dora's Pirate Adventure.
- The YouTube version does not have the credits. When Dora and Boots sign off, the episode immediately whooshes to the left.
- "¡Arriba!" is the only thing the rocket ship says when it comes to life. Afterwards, it becomes faceless forever.
- The Milky Way background will later used on the title cards of episodes of the first and second season of Pet Alien called "The Land that Size Forget" and "Island of Doom".
- Coincidentally, both Pet Alien and this show, aired on CITV.
Goofs/Errors[]
- It is unknown how Backpack can carry two complete spacesuits.
- In real life, there are no planets that are purple (although here it does not apply due to cartoon logic).
- If one looks closely, when Dora and Boots are driving the rocketship past the space rocks, they are seen without their spacesuits and it is unknown why they disappeared.
- An error like this occurred in The Happy Old Troll, where they were seen without lifejackets while riding the big red fish past the snakes at Fishy Lake.
Cultural Reference[]
- The planet with green stripes may be a reference to Steve from Blue's Clues, since Steve always wore a green-striped shirt in that show. However, this episode premiered long after his departure to let Joe becoming the next host of the show's next season.
