Production info
- This season was produced from Early 2008-2010.
- Nickelodeon announced that they ordered this season in March of 2007. [1]
Trivia
- This marks the last season for the original We Did It! music. There will be a new one in the next season. However, it was introduced in Dora's Big Birthday Adventure.
- The art style changes this season; specifically the Forest is more vibrant and detailed with more gradient colors, and Dora's face is altered slightly to have slightly wider eyes and a more round head. Perrito's fur has also changed from dark brown to tan.
- However, the art style was teased in the Season 4 specials Dora's Dance to the Rescue, Dora's World Adventure! and Dora Saves the Mermaids, and was used throughout Go, Diego, Go!.
- Backpack wasn't checked very often this season. The episodes where Backpack was not checked are "First Day of School", "Benny's Big Race", "Isa's Unicorn Flowers", "Dora's Jack-in-the-Box", "The Mayan Adventure", "Bouncy Boots", "Benny's Treasure", "Dora Saves Three Kings Day", "Dora Saves the Three Little Pigs", "Bark, Bark to Play Park", "Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure", "The Super Babies Dream Adventure", "Pirate Treasure Hunt", "Dora Helps the Birthday Wizzle", and "Boots' Banana Wish".
- This season has the least amount of episodes in a single season, that being 20.
- This season, tied with Season 4, holds the record of the most double-length episodes in a single season, that being four.
- Three of the double-length episodes make up the Magic Storybook Trilogy.
- From Dora's Big Birthday Adventure and onward, instead of a location, the term "rainforest" is used to collectively refer to the forest zone where the series takes place, which is also used in Dora and Friends: Into the City!.
- There are a few changes and firsts in this season.
- The Season 3-6 opening sequence changes as of this season. The explorer stars were removed and a couple different episode clips show. Two of the clips from the Season 3-4 version (the ones from The Lost City and Meet Diego!) stay the same.
- This was the first season to introduce a new cast for the younger characters (For example, Dora, Boots, Benny, Isa, Tico, and Backpack), most likely because of the age of the original actors/actresses, who would most likely sound "awkward" if they continued to voiced them.
- The background music becomes slightly more orchestrated this season.
- This is the first season where not all episodes use a normal opening sequence. The double-length episodes instead have special opening sequences with a title card at the end before the specials start. This means that Dora Saves the Snow Princess is the first to do so.
- Starting with this season, whenever the Grumpy Old Troll sings his I'm the Grumpy Old Troll song, he smiles.
- However, he was smiling during the song in "Little Star", but only up until the line, "Who's there?!".
- Following the Map segment, all three pictures pop up at once and Dora asks, "Where do we go first?", instead of saying the places and then said question.
- The picture pop-up sequence reverts back to how it was from the first 3 seasons of the show, but this time, like the bonus Map segments in Season 4, the red checkmarks get placed each time Dora tells the viewer what places have been passed, indicating that it is done.
- During the Picture Pop-Up Sequence, Dora now raises one or both of her arms when she asks, "Where do we go first/next?", followed by the blue cursor clicking on that square, which is the first/next place to go.
- However, it was actually introduced in "The Lost City".
- In addition, during the Favorite Parts segment at the end, Dora now raises one or both of her arms and keeps them raised after asking the viewer what their favorite part was, before saying "I liked that, too."
- However, it was actually introduced in "Berry Hunt".
- Beginning this season, Dora now often asks the viewer what path the location is on, instead of asking where the place is.
- However, it was introduced in "Dora's Fairytale Adventure".
- Every episode begins with a fade in from black and a fade out to black.
- Dora and/or Boots now shout "Map!" (with the viewer) after she/they say, "Louder!" before Map's segment begins ("Louder, Map!"), just like in Dora Saves the Mermaids.
- This technically marks the return of both Dora and Boots saying "Louder!" to call Map from Season 1 and early Season 2.
- A similar technique is used when calling Backpack, with Dora and/or Boots shouting "Backpack!" before Backpack's segment begins. However, it is not used often.
- Just like the bonus map segments in Season 4, Map now ends his segments with "So you tell Dora, first we go to (first place)" before it cuts back to Dora. However, the three pictures now pop up all at once, and Dora does not say their names, and now simply asks, "Where do we go first?" before the blue cursor clicks the first place.
- A few changes during Backpack's segment:
- Backpack's song was rerecorded, and the items now spin around her at 30fps.
- Backpack often says, "¡Hola, soy Backpack/Mochila!" at the start of some segments.
- The blue cursor has a more rounded appearance in the segment, and the highlight for the chosen item is different.
- Instead of the chosen item remaining out while the other items go back in Backpack before it flies offscreen, the chosen item now flies offscreen before the other items go back in.
- The selected items from Backpack no longer fall from the sky after her segments.
- During We Did It! at the end, the characters reenact what they mention. Starting with the next season, flashbacks of what they did are shown as well.
- During the Favorite Parts segment, Boots or another character now says, "Thanks for helping," instead of Dora, while Dora herself says, "We couldn't have done it without you" and "Gracias".
- However, it was introduced in "Star Catcher".
- The music during the Favorite Parts segment now increases in tone to D major before the episode ends.
- The blue cursor no longer clicks on Dora before the end credits start. Instead, there is a fade to black effect.
- This is the first season in which Dora says "Correcto!" upon making a correct choice.
- A lot of episodes from this season were first seen on home media before airing on TV, in fact more so than Season 4.
- Dora Saves the Snow Princess and Bark, Bark to Play Park were first seen on the DVD of the same name.
- Dora Saves Three Kings Day was first seen on the Dora Celebrates Three Kings Day DVD.
