Dora the Explorer Wiki

Dora the Explorer: Wildlife Rescue is the first Leapster game for the series.

Join Dora, Boots, and Diego on an amazing wildlife rescue adventure! Play five learning games that teach essential preschool, pre-k and kindergarten reading and math skills. Then plug into the TV and play with three animal adventure stories. Learn about different animals and help them return to their homes!

The game covers the following concepts: Letters, Phonics, Animals, Numbers, Spanish language

Diego sees that three animals are in trouble, but only one is chosen by the player. Dora and Boots need to save the animal and help it get back to the animal rescue center.

  • Spectacled Bear
  • Great Horned Owl
  • Baby Jaguar

  • Animal Match (Bushy Hill)
  • Stepping Stones (Crocodile Lake)
  • Gate Matching (Troll Bridge)
  • Broken Bridge (Animal Rescue)
  • Celebration (unlocked after rescuing one of the three animals)

  • This was originally released the same day as the Meet Diego! VHS and DVD.
  • There is also a Leapster L-MAX version of the game that was released in 2005.
  • The game was repackaged as a standard game case in 2008 to look like a Leapster2 related game. Not only that, but it also contained an updated version of the game replacing some sprites as well as the backgrounds for the game level select with a generic blue flower background.
  • In the L-MAX and 2008 versions of the game, the celebration games don't require to be unlocked.

  • In early 2003-2004 prints of the game the sticker label says, "Animal Rescuer" instead of "Wildlife Rescue" (this was fixed in later prints from late 2004 and onwards)
  • On the cover art for the 2008 rerelease of the game, the Letter O is dark pink instead of light blue (the same thing occurred in "Dora's Camping Adventure", another Dora Leapster Game)
