Synopsis

It's Dora, the world's most famous exploradora! Join her and all her friends on brand new, magical adventures in the rainforest!

Premise

With all-new CG animation and imaginative character-driven storylines, the series follows everyone's favorite bilingual explorer, Dora, and her best monkey friend, Boots, as they embark on epic adventures in a fantastical rainforest. Guided by trustworthy Map, Dora and her friends must work together to overcome many obstacles while being challenged by the sneakiest fox, Swiper.

Differences from the original show

  • The episodes now consist of two side-by-side 11-minute segments instead of full 22-minute episodes.
    • In addition, there is a commercial break between the episodes.
  • Map was reimagined and replaced into a female character of the same name (sometimes referred to as "Mapa"), serving a similar role that he previously had. Also, her Map Snap power segment of taking a picture is the same as Click the Camera from Go, Diego, Go!.
  • I'm the Map (replaced by Dónde Está), Backpack, Backpack (replaced by The Backpack Song), Swiper's original music, and the Travel Song aren't present in the reboot, due to the short running time and polarization.
  • A new version of the We Did It! song appears in the reboot known as Super Bien.
  • The blue cursor has been abandoned with this series. While the short series "Dora's Aventuras!" has the colored paths of the episode Learn the Colors, it's unknown when the picture pop-up sequence will return.
  • Various segments have been changed:
    • Map's segment:
      • The segment is on another world as some have 2 locations to get to the destination while other first-part or second-part episodes have only one location of getting to the destination.
    • Backpack's segment:
  • Swiper lets out a sinister laugh to alert Dora to his presence instead of whisking (similarly to Dora's English Adventure).
  • Some of the characters have been changed:
    • Dora's design and her classic Seasons 1-6 outfit have received an upgrade, now featuring a purple shirt underneath her classic pink shirt, a pink barrette in her hair, a new bracelet, yellow sport socks, and light pink Velcro shoes. Additionally, her ears (which are pierced), her teeth and eyebrows are visible in this series.
    • The red boots of Boots now have the mark of a banana on the side top.
    • Backpack has been redesigned to resemble a modern backpack used by children today, which includes adjustable straps and an attachable keychain.
    • Boots, Swiper, Benny, the Grumpy Old Troll, and the Big Red Chicken remain unchanged for the most part, but now have colorized eyes alongside all the other characters.
    • Isa and Tico have received a bit of a design overhaul. While both of them now have prominent feet, it's Isa who gets the most drastic redesign, having a slightly pointed snout, purple stripes on her tail and purple highlights on her dorsal fins. Additionally, she now has fingers on her formerly stubby hands, while Tico only gains thumbs.
      • Swiper has also been slightly redesigned to an extent as well. He has a rounder snout and head and also has visible toes on his feet. His tail, much like Tico's, looks furrier as well, and the top row of his teeth are visible even when his mouth is closed.
    • Tico no longer has the ability to turn his vest into a life jacket.
    • The Fiesta Trio now consists of a new lineup. While the blue frog has remained (this time with more saturated colors), the group now features a marmoset and armadillo, replacing the grasshopper and snail respectively.
      • Their voices are normal pitched, rather than being high pitched.
      • They also have bigger roles; joining in on singing songs and/or going on adventures with Dora and Boots.
    • Dora's old Mami (Elena) and Papi (Cole), are replaced with new ones (Celia and Mateo), Abuela has a different design, and the attires of Guillermo and Isabella have switched colors.
    • Dora's friends have different characteristics:
      • Benny is super strong.
      • Isa loves to sing.
      • Tico loves to use different gadgets.
      • Big Red Chicken loves to sleep.
      • Swiper swipes stuff in a different way. With the exception of "The Magic Nut", where he tosses away the titular nut after successfully taking it.

Trivia

  • This is the first Nick Jr. series to premiere exclusively on Noggin/Paramount+ streaming services before hitting the Nickelodeon and Nick Jr. linear cable networks. Like the other original Paramount+ series including the Rugrats and iCarly reboots, Star Trek: Prodigy, The Fairly OddParents: Fairly Odder, Big Nate and Transformers EarthSpark, the series will also air on the Nickelodeon linear channels at a later date.
  • This is the fifth Nick Jr. series to get a Noggin app webpage and sneak peeks/interactive content before the series actually premiered. The other four being Blue's Clues & You! (2019-), Santiago of the Seas (2020-23), Baby Shark's Big Show! (2020-) and Rubble & Crew (2023-).
  • The series has the shortest running time in any Dora the Explorer series and it's one of the first series to do so, with only 11 minutes for two segments of the full episode.
  • This is the first Dora series to be made by Little Coop and Pipeline Studios. Pipeline is also known for creating shows for PBS Kids like "Work It Out Wombats!", "Alma's Way", "Elinor Wonders Why", and "Lyla in the Loop".
  • Swiper, Big Red Chicken, and Val the Octopus are currently the only characters to retain their original voice actors from the original series.
  • Swiper and Backpack are currently the only characters to retain their catchphrases from the original series.
  • This is the second project in the Dora franchise to be fully animated in CGI. The first was the amusement ride Dora & Diego's 4D Adventure: Catch that Robot Butterfly! in 2010.
    • The original series and the spin-off Dora and Friends also featured CGI elements, but they were normally combined with the regular 2D animation of both shows.
  • This is third project in the Dora franchise to feature a redesign of Backpack. The first is Dora and Friends and the second is the film Dora and the Lost City of Gold.
  • Swiper was going to have his mask reveal his hair and have his floating eyebrows removed, but was reverted back to normal and kept his eyebrows.
  • Benny was originally going to wear a backwards yellow cap. However, it was removed in the final version for unknown reasons.
  • The series has a new Fiesta Trio, consisting of the frog from the original lineup, a marmoset, and an armadillo; however some images featured the original trio in the early development.
    • The marmoset's design is based on Boots' original design.
  • In this series, Dora's original voice actress, Kathleen Herles, returns as the voice of Dora's mother.
  • The end credits on nickjr.com (United States only) interestingly has no audio for unknown reasons, despite the metadata showing that there is audio present.
  • The release date of this series coincides with the 20th anniversary of the original series episode The Super Silly Fiesta.
  • Though we've seen concept art for Diego and Baby Jaguar in the same design style as Dora, it’s unknown at the moment if we will also see the return of Alicia and Daisy with their parents and they will make their official debuts in the future third season.
