Summary[]
At a family evening dinner at Dora's House, Dora tells the story about her first trip, the time when she met Boots (and also her friends Tico, Isa, and Benny, including her first archenemy Swiper) and when they had their first exploration together: the Fiesta Trio accidentally dropped their instruments while riding the bicycle and Dora and her friends helped them retrieve their instruments so they can perform a special song for a queen bee (who does not like to wait).
Plot[]
Dora was having dinner with her family and friends in her house. Boots wants Dora to tell the story of how they first met so Dora tells the story. In it from a long time ago, Dora gets an exploring pack from her parents and she goes exploring. She follows a trail of footprints of a boot and she meets Boots. They introduced themselves to each other. Then, they also meet a villain named Swiper and they stop him from swiping Boots’ boots. After that, Boots was about to leave until Dora invites him to go exploring with her. Boots gets excited and decides to go with her. He asked her what exploring is and she explains that exploring is going on trip and adventures, discovering new things, and meeting new friends. Boots thought it is was cool. They get going. They hear a horn beep. It was coming from the Fiesta Trio who were riding a bike. Dora and Boots introduced themselves to the Fiesta Trio, who explains to them that they are on their way to the Tallest Mountain so they can play music for the Queen Bee who doesn’t like waiting. But when they left, they accidentally drop their instruments. Dora tried telling them to stop, but they didn’t hear her, and the instruments are still on the ground. Something has to be done. Dora and Boots decide to bring the instruments to Fiesta Trio. They found out that the Fiesta Trio went through the Nutty Forest and crossed the Big River to get to the Tallest Mountain. When they get to the Nutty Forest, the nuts start falling on them and they see Tico (who Boots already knows) driving his car and he offers them a ride through the forest. They follow the Fiesta Trio’s bike trail and make it out of the forest. After that, Dora, Boots, and Tico get to the Big River where they meet Isa, who tells them that they need a boat in order to cross it. So Tico turns his car to a boat. Isa warns them that they have to follow the right way or they’ll get bit by the Nibbly Fish and offers to help them. After avoiding the Nibbly Fish, Boots is too excited that he stands up in the boat, despite Dora warning him not to. Boots loses his balance and falls out of the boat and is caught by Benny, who is fishing. Dora, Tico, and Isa arrive and they meet Benny. He asks if he can join them and they say yes. They make it to Tallest Mountain where Isa tells them that they need a plane to get to the top, so Tico turns his car to a plane. While they’re in the air, the plane runs out of gas so Tico opens a parachute, but it’s all tangled up. So Boots untangles it with help from the viewer. They make it so the top and return the Fiesta Trio’s instruments and they preform a buzzing song for the Queen Bee. Dora finishes the story saying that's how she met her friends and they became best friends for life.

Trivia[]
- Perrito, Guillermo, Isabella, Alicia, Baby Jaguar and Mama Jaguar are the only ones not invited to the family dinner, despite their earlier appearances.
- And also, this took place before Dora got a new puppy and the birth of her twins.
- On top of that, this episode was produced before the two episodes.
- Dora does not ask Map for directions in this episode (because back then, she did not have him and Backpack).
- In addition, Backpack and Map were introduced in the episode with Backpack's name.
- Despite this, the Persian dub's Backpack song is sung to the tune of the song Buzz Buzz from this episode.
- This is the last episode where Mami is voiced by Socorro Santiago. Her original voice actress, Eileen Galindo, will return to the role beginning with Season 5 onwards.
- However, the last episode production-wise is Catch the Babies.
- This is the last episode where Papi is voiced by Fidel Vicioso. He would not have another speaking role until the Season 7 episode Feliz Dia De Los Padres, now voiced by Julián Rebolledo.
- Vicioso, however, will voice the character one more time in the Nintendo DS game Dora's Cooking Club.
- Boots already knew Tico despite the fact that he does not speak English like he does.
- Dora met her friends in this order: Boots, Swiper, Fiesta Trio, Tico, Isa, and Benny.
- Tico turns his car into a boat and an airplane.
- This is the 89th episode of the show (in production order, this is the 79th episode of the show).
- Dora's giggle is high-pitched, albeit only this episode and Boots to the Rescue, it is low-pitched in this episode after the Fiesta Trio played the extended fanfare.
- Backpack and Map do not appear in this episode in Dora's story (because she didn't have them back then until the next story of how did she got her backpack), but did appear in the beginning and during the We Did It! song. This is also the 11th time where Backpack is not asked.
- Dora and Boots do a map segment of their own, though.
- Unlike all other Season 4 episodes, Dora does not put red checkmarks after passing each place.
- Backpack and Map were introduced in the episode with Backpack's name.
- Chronologically, this would be the first flashback episode in which Dora meets her friends for the first time. The second flashback episode would be "Backpack!", in which Dora gets her very own purple backpack and a map. The third flashback episode would be "Star Catcher", in which Dora gets a star pocket to catch Explorer Stars. However, despite the second aforementioned episode being a flashback episode, it does not begin with Dora telling the viewers at home that she is going to tell a story about the time she first got her star pocket, because it was produced as a Season 4 episode but got aired during Season 3.
- In initial airing order, this episode comes between the episodes from "Animal Adventures".
- In production order, this episode is between the two star catching adventure episodes "Star Catcher" and "Star Mountain" (coincidentally, the first was the last to feature the Picture Pop-Up Sequence until "Dora's World Adventure!", while the second was the first to use the "Bonus Map" format).
- Not only was there no star-catching in this episode, but this is also the first time in Season 4 where Dora's star pocket is hidden since ABC Animals. It is also the first time since Best Friends where Backpack has her right side pocket since it got mysteriously removed from her when the star pocket was in its place.
- This is the final time that happens in the original animation style before it changes beginning with Go, Diego, Go!.
- In production order, this is the second and last Season 4 episode to use the Season 3 art style after Star Catcher.
- Dora and Boots do not talk about their favorite parts at the end of the episode, they instead talk about doing fun things with their friends. And Dora says "That sounds like fun!", instead of her usual line "I like that, too!" after the viewer's response. Dora and Boots also don't say what they like.
- Stand-up comedian Susie Essman guest stars in this episode as the Queen Bee.
- This episode may possibly reveal how Dora and Boots first began singing the Travel Song whenever they travel anywhere and go on new adventures to any kind of places they've never been to before.
- There are several differences in this episode's version of the Travel Song:
- It starts out slow with minimal instrumentation, then as Dora and Boots say where they're going, it gets progressively faster with more instruments until the "Where are we going?" part.
- The line "Come on, say it with us!" has its audio taken from Season 1 and is the only audio retained for the Travel Song.
- While saying where they're going, whenever Dora and Boots say "Tallest Mountain", they raise their arms.
- Before the "Come on, Vamonos" part, Dora and Boots do not run down a hill and jump over a log. Boots also does not cartwheel over Dora.
- The "Come on, Vamonos" part is said one by one with Dora singing first and Boots singing second, instead of both of them together. In addition, instead of Boots singing "Come on, let's get to it" and Dora saying "I know that we can do it", their lines are switched.
- Dora and Boots' utterances of "Where are we going?" have been re-recorded.
- Instead of Dora asking "Where are we going?" first and then Boots, it's the other way around.
- After each utterance of "Where are we going?", Dora and Boots clap three times, then stomp their feet three times, before saying the destination.
- On the third utterance of "Where are we going?", Dora and Boots say the destination instead of the Fiesta Trio, because they are heading to Tallest Mountain at that time.
- Dora and Boots spin in a circle in the opposite direction.
- It starts out slow with minimal instrumentation, then as Dora and Boots say where they're going, it gets progressively faster with more instruments until the "Where are we going?" part.
- This episode marks the longest regular Travel Song.
- The Blue Cursor clicks on Tico's car while he's driving and moving.
- Swiper may not have been a good friend Dora would ever meet because of him swiping so much in this episode, but Dora and Boots somehow became friends and got along with him anyway even in later episodes to complete their missions no matter what whenever he's on his good side.
- This is the first episode the Fiesta Trio talk to the viewer when they ask them for help playing their song Buzz, Buzz for the queen bee that never likes waiting and it's also the first episode they technically get major roles even though they make minor appearances in this episode.
- This is the first episode Dora calls the Fiesta Trio by their species to Boots (frog, grasshopper, and snail).
- Dora met Boots first as he's the first friend she meets and she picked him to go exploring and traveling with from past episodes and for future episodes.
- The song the Fiesta Trio play for the Queen Bee (Buzz, Buzz) is to the tune of "Las Chiapanecas" by Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán.
- At the end of the We Did It! song, Dora does not say "Yay!", nor does Boots say "Whoo!" Instead, Swiper says "Oh, man!" after everyone, even Diego, stop him.
- On top of that, the sound was recycled all the way from the Season 1 series premiere.
- This is the first flashback/story episode where We Did It! is sung after the story ended. This will happen again in Happy Birthday, Super Babies!.
- This marks the second time (first by production order) Backpack says "Lo hicimos!" before Map says "We did it!" in the We Did It! song after Dora's Dance to the Rescue.
- This is one of a few episodes that first premiered in the United Kingdom in 2005 before the United States a year or two later.
- Although this episode premiered in 2005 (Nick Jr. UK) and 2006 (Nickelodeon), it was produced in 2003 according to the end credits.
- This episode premiered on Nickelodeon exactly 3 years after The Legend of the Big Red Chicken and Lost and Found premiered on Noggin.
- Additionally, that same day was when Noggin received two new hosts from the time, Moose and Zee, replacing Face and his interstitials respectively.
- This episode premiered on Nickelodeon on April 7, 2006 at 9am eastern time and encored on 1pm eastern later that day.
- In Dora's Christmas Carol Adventure, Dora (along with Swiper) time travels way back in the day where all her friends are seen as babies, except her. However, despite this episode, that's when she and Boots first met each other, which could reveal that Dora has probably never even met them yet until the story from this episode, so she is technically time traveling to her friends' past when they were babies, which is possibly why she would not be meant to be seen as a baby unlike everyone else.
- However, what may be very interesting is that Dora is somehow with her friends when they were toddlers, which is very confusing because she actually first met Boots, then she met Isa, Benny, Tico, and Swiper in the story from this episode, which reveals how she met everyone but they're all seen together as toddlers, so it is unknown how they have met or known each other like that yet until then.
- This is the only episode in which Dora does not ask the viewer if he/she sees the location.
- Not only that, Dora does not ask the viewer "Where do we go first/next?" after passing each place.
- The We Did It! song was the only part of the adventure that does not have an origin.
- This is the first time Dora does not say "Who do we ask for help when we don't know which way to go?" when referring to Map before his segment begins.
- This is the final appearance of Tallest Mountain in the series, not counting its cameo in the Dora and Friends episode "Return to the Rainforest".
- When Dora and Boots says "Swiper no swiping!" thrice, the audio is taken from Lost Map.
- Speaking of which, this episode marks the last usage of it.
- This was the first episode to air on the Toggolino rebrand in 2008.
Goofs/Errors[]
- When Dora gets her special traveling kit, she is wearing a hat. However, when Dora leaves her house, her hat disappears and is no longer seen.
- In the flashback, Dora and Boots clap their hands during the Travel Song instead of just saying the destination immediately after asking "Where are we going?". However, they just say the place right away in Season 1 and the Season 2 episode The Big Storm. It is possible that at the time, they do clap their hands and later took a break from it.
- In the credits, Valerie Walsh is credited as "Val Walsh" under voice direction.
- The Nutty Forest can be seen down the hill from where Dora and Boots are, but when they sing the Travel Song, they are not going down a hill.
- During the Travel Song, Dora's feet are much smaller than usual.
- In the beginning of the episode, Dora is not wearing Backpack. After she finishes the story, Backpack magically appears on her. It is likely that she put her on while she was telling the story.
- In the beginning and most of the framing device, it is mid day, but when stopping Swiper during We Did It!, it is nighttime for the rest of the episode. It is possible that the sun set while Dora was telling the story.
