Trivia

  • This is the 7th episode to have a Spanish title.
    • This title of the episode means "Daisy's 15th birthday".
  • This is the 77th episode of the show (78th if counting the Noggin premiere of "To the South Pole").
  • This episode marks the first appearance of Diego's parents. His sister Alicia won't appear until Big Sister Dora.
  • Benny, Tico, Isa, Click, Alicia, and Rescue Pack do not appear in this episode.
    • It is unknown why Alicia did not show up for the party. However, she does not debut until Big Sister Dora.
  • The book adaptation of this episode by Alison Inches is titled as "The Birthday Dance Party!" and was published on March 4th, 2008.
  • The Mambo song was later redubbed in the Nick Jr. Mambo Dance clip using Fátima Ptacek's, Regan Mizrahi's and Matt Hunter's voices.
  • This is the second episode Dora uses the phone. This previously occurred in Job Day.
  • Swiper does not make whisking sounds in this episode. Instead, he was in disguise.
    • Also, this is his first appearance for Season 4.
    • Additionally, this is the second episode Swiper was in disguise both times he appeared, first being Egg Hunt. It will happen again in School Science Fair.
  • This episode premiered exactly 3 years after "Te Amo" premiered.
  • This is the second episode where the Barn was a location, first being Three Little Piggies. However, in Egg Hunt, a similar location appears called the Farm.
  • Dora and Boots don't sing the Travel Song in this episode because they wanted to practice the mambo dance for Daisy's party, so they instead sing Mambo.
  • This is the second episode (and the first half-hour episode) where Dora doesn't use the picture pop-up sequence and instead checks Map each time they finished a place.
    • This is also the first episode where Map was checked three times since the previous episode features four locations instead of the usual three.
  • The Fiesta Trio doesn't appear during the Map sequence, not even when Map sang his I'm the Map song.
    • Thus, this is the first Season 4 episode where the Fiesta Trio do not speak.
    • The short version of "I'm the Map" was from Season 2.
  • There is no star-catching in this episode; however, the star pocket can be seen on Backpack and an Explorer Star minigame plays during the end credits.
  • Dora's dress from this episode is worn again in the board game collaborations of Candy Land and Chutes and Ladders. However, unlike this episode, she also wears a party hat in both games.
  • This is one of few episodes where Map's zoom-wipe effect is used after telling the viewers to go to the first and last locations.
  • During "We Did It!", in airing order:
    • This is the first episode to feature new recordings for the instances of "We did it!", "Lo hicimos!", "We Did It! We Did It! Hooray! and "Yay! Whoo! Hooray! We did it! Whoo!" since Dora and Boots' voices evolved after Season 1. However, unlike Super Spies 2: The Swiping Machine, the new recordings of "Yay" and "Lo hicimos!" can clearly be heard.
    • However, the first recording of Dora and Boots singing "We did it!" before the two other recordings and the "Hooray" from Season 1 is kept.
    • After Dora sang, "Lo hicimos", Map and Backpack did not sing "We did it!" because they were taken off when Dora changed into her outfit for Daisy's Quinceañera. Instead, she sings it.
      • However, if given the chance, Backpack and Map could sing "We did it!" where Dora keeps them offscreen.
        • This later comes true in Swiper's Favorite Things despite only Map singing it due to Backpack lacking her segment in the said episode.
  • This is the second episode where Dora, Boots, and Diego (first episode for Baby Jaguar) ride on giant condors, first being Meet Diego!.
  • This is the fourth and final episode to feature the rainforest as a location, following Click!, Hide and Go Seek, and Meet Diego!, before the term "rainforest" starts being used to refer to the forest where the show takes place.
  • This is the second time Dora takes off Backpack for an outfit she wears after Dora's Fairytale Adventure.
  • When Dora is asking the viewer to check Backpack for the umbrella, she does not turn around to show Backpack.
  • This is the last episode to premiere in 2004.
  • Map only zoom wipes in the first and last segments after telling the viewers to go to the first and last locations.
  • When Swiper is stopped the second time he tries to swipe Daisy's present, the camera does not zoom in on him as he exclaims "Oh, man!".
  • When Dora, Boots, Diego, and Baby Jaguar exit the rainforest, the Fiesta Trio plays its fanfare in a mambo style.
  • This episode could be the standard length version of the double length episode "Dora's Dance to the Rescue". Both episodes feature a lot of dancing.

Goofs/Errors

  • Despite the dance being called the Mambo, it looks nothing like an actual Mambo dance in real life (although here it does not apply, due to cartoon logic).
  • Dora's face design changes back and forth throughout the episode.
  • In real life, one cannot ride on a giant condor. This previously occurred in Meet Diego!.
  • Unlike Journey to the Purple Planet and ABC Animals, although there was no star-catching, an Explorer Star mini-game plays anyway instead of a Character Find (Baker Star, Baseball Star, and Policía had their mini-games and it's the second appearance after Job Day).

Number of Stars

None in the actual episode; 3 in the credits

Explorer Stars (End Credits only)

  • Policía the Police Star
  • Baker Star
  • Baseball Star
