Boots' Cuddly Dinosaur is the 18th episode of Dora the Explorer from Season 3 (both airing and production order).

Boots is very excited for having a sleepover with Dora at her house. However, there is a very big problem: he can't find his cuddly dinosaur. Dora recalls that he left him at the Play Park, so they have to rush there to get his cuddly dinosaur back before sunset.

Today, Boots is spending the night with Dora for a sleepover. Dora always sleeps with Osito the bear. Boots explains to the viewer that he always sleeps with his plush dinosaur that he calls his "cuddly dinosaur" that he had since he was a baby. He never goes to sleep without it. When Boots was going to get his cuddly dinosaur out of his bag, he digs in, but he was not there. Boots thought for sure he packed his cuddly dinosaur in his bag. Dora and Boots had to stop and think. She asked Boots where they went today, but Boots doesn't remember. Dora recalls that she and Boots were at the Play Park with their friends earlier in the day and thought that his cuddly dinosaur might have fell out of his bag because it was unzipped. Boots really needed to get his cuddly dinosaur back and asks the viewer if he/she wants to help. After the viewer's response, Boots feels better and cheered up. Dora and Boots looked out the window and saw that it was almost sunset. They have to hurry to get Boots' cuddly dinosaur from play park to take back for his sleepover at Dora's house. First, they had to figure out the quickest route.

They try to ask Map but he was asleep. So, they tried waking him up. When Map woke up, he thought it was morning and it wasn't. So, Dora and Boots explained to Map that they needed to find Boots' cuddly dinosaur. Map was in shock but accepted the request to help. The viewer had to say Map and the viewer did so. Map explained that the quickest to get to play park is to go past Diego's animal center and past Benny's barn. Along the way, they can catch some stars. So, Dora and Boots got going. They stopped for a moment because Boots was still sad that he left his cuddly dinosaur behind at play park. Suddenly, an explorer star peeked out and cheers up Boots. Dora told Boots that it was Comfy Star who was trying to cheer him up. Boots was all better and decided to catch that star because she helped him. Suddenly more stars appeared.

Dora and Boots catch the stars. Sure enough, Boots caught Comfy Star. They put them into the star pocket. After that, they reach the animal center. They see Diego as he blows the conch shell. Diego came down and said hello to his cousin Dora and her friend Boots. Diego explained that the grown up animals were trying to find their babies for bedtime. The grown up capybara finds her baby and so did the armadillo. The mama scarlet macaw, tapir and banana bird can't find their babies, so Dora, Boots, and the viewer started helping out the mama scarlet macaw who went caw-caw. They listened for a tweet-tweet, a high pitched caw-caw and a chirp-chirp. The viewer finds the baby scarlet macaw in the tree. Next, Dora, Boots and Diego help tapir who went squeak-squeak. Once again, they listened for the tweet-tweet, caw-caw and chirp-chirp. They find the baby tapir behind the rock. Finally, they help the banana bird which went tweet-tweet and the baby banana bird was behind the coconuts. After all the moms found their babies for bedtime, Dora knew a lullaby in Spanish to get the babies to go to sleep. It was called "Buena Noches" which means "good night". After the song, the animals were fast asleep. Dora and Boots had to get going. They were on their way to play park to find Boots' cuddly dinosaur. Diego wishes Boots "buena suerte" for good luck.

After passing the animal center, they see Benny at his barn who was getting ready for bed. Benny showed Dora and Boots his nine dolls which he calls his "guys" and says he can't go to sleep without them. Boots tells Benny that he sleeps with his cuddly dinosaur but lost him at play park. Benny thought that was a bummer and hopes he finds him. Suddenly, they heard Swiper the fox. Benny thought Swiper will try to swipe his guys. Swiper sneaks behind Dora, Boots and Benny and swiped Benny's nine guys and tossed them inside his barn's top window. Boots decided to climb up to the top of the barn and throw down Benny's stuffed animals one at a time. Boots looked around and said that it's dark in the barn and needed something to see in the dark. So, Dora tries to ask Backpack, but she was fast asleep. Dora tries to wake up Backpack. She tries to shout out loud to get her up. Sure enough, Backpack wakes up and she saw it was still night time. Dora explained to Backpack that Swiper swiped Benny's guys and Boots needs something to see in the dark. Backpack was surprised but accepts the assignment for Boots. The viewer just has to say "Backpack" and the viewer did so. Boots needed something to see in the dark. The viewer finds a flashlight. They get it out and pass the flashlight to Boots. Now, that Boots has a flashlight, he can throw down all nine of Benny's guys to the ground. The viewer counts along with Boots. After that, Benny catches his nine guys. He was so happy. After Benny got back his nine guys, he tells Dora and Boots that he has to get something.

Dora and Boots shrug but they still got going again to Play Park. The sun was setting. If they don’t get there before dark, they will never find Boots’ cuddly dinosaur. And if they can’t get it back because it is too dark, they can’t have the sleepover. So, Dora and Boots needed a fast way to get up to play park. Suddenly, they see Benny in his hot air balloon. Benny brought his balloon for Dora and Boots so they can get up to play park. Benny says "abajo" to lower his balloon to the ground. Dora and Boots thanked Benny. Benny reminds Dora and Boots to say "arriba" for "up" and "abajo" for "down". Benny had to get to bed and wished them good luck. Dora and Boots say goodnight to him. Then they say "arriba" and the balloon raised up into the sky. They were high up. Along the way, they see Little Star. They made a wish. Dora and Boots wished to find Boots' cuddly dinosaur. Little Star hopes their wish comes true. Dora and Boots thanked Little Star. After that, Dora saw Play Park down below. Dora and Boots say "abajo" to lower the balloon down. After that, they jump out and look around for Boots' cuddly dinosaur. They check the swing set, but the swings were empty. Next, they check the slide. There was nothing near the slide. They keep looking, and suddenly they find Boots' cuddly dinosaur in the sandbox.

Boots was happy to get his cuddly dinosaur back and Dora had good news for him. Dora tells Boots that they can now have their sleepover. Back at Dora's house, Dora's teddy bear rides on top of Boots' cuddly dinosaur on top of a pile of pillows and imagined that it was a volcano. Boots goes: "Don't worry Osito, I can get us down from this volcano. I'm a flying dinosaur." Dora goes: "Excelente, let's go. Then they both say in a unison, "vamos abajo". Boots was so glad to get his cuddly dinosaur back in time for his sleepover with Dora. Then they celebrate. After that, Dora gets in her bed and Boots gets in his bed and get tucked in. Dora's parents flick the light switch off. Boots thanked Dora for helping him get back his dinosaur and tells her good night and loves her. Dora replies that she loves him back, and says they couldn't have found Boots' cuddly dinosaur without the viewer's help.

  • Flashlight (referred to as "La linterna", correct item)
  • Soccer ball
  • Spinning top
  • Hula hoop
  • Net

This episode can be found in Save the Day!, Dora's Slumber Party, and Dora & Boots Best Friends Forever on DVD.

  • The ending scene from this episode is shown in Room, when Jack and Ma are watching TV. Thus making it the second Nick Jr show that appeared on TV in a movie. The first was Wonder Pets in 2010 in Life as We Know It, when the ending scene from the 10th episode of Season 1 "Save The Sea Lions" was shown on TV.
  • Dora and Boots are in their pajamas after they got back Boots' cuddly dinosaur from the Play Park.
  • In this episode, Map and Dora refer to the Animal Center as "Animals" rather than "Animal Center" or just "Center".
  • This is the 13th instance where Dora and Boots returned to where they started from after reaching the final place on the map, something that also occurred in Three Little Piggies, Berry Hunt, The Chocolate Tree, El Día De Las Madres, Click!, A Present for Santa, School Pet, Save the Puppies!, What Happens Next?, Journey to the Purple Planet, and Dora's Pirate Adventure.
  • This episode most likely takes place before Louder! because at the beginning of aforementioned episode, Boots mentioned that he slept over at Dora's House.
    • Coincidentally, the aforementioned episode and this one were put together on "Dora's Slumber Party" DVD, and Louder! came after this episode, so this may prove that it almost definitely takes place directly before Louder! (there is a good chance that it does).
      • What is interesting is that this episode came after Louder! in production order.
  • This is the 71st episode of the show.
  • This is the 5th episode in which Play Park was the final destination.
  • Tico and Isa do not appear during Dora and Boots' adventure, meaning that it is already bedtime for them. It is possible that Benny's bedtime is shortly after theirs.
    • However, Isa and Tico only appeared in the flashback of Dora and Boots playing with them along with Benny at Play Park with Boots' bag unzipped.
  • Baby Jaguar does not appear in this episode, meaning that it’s most likely bedtime for him. Not only that, this is also the last Season 3 episode where Diego appears without him.
  • This is the fourth episode where Benny spoke Spanish. He says "arriba" and "abajo" to his hot balloon to go up and down.
  • Backpack and Map were sleeping during Dora's adventure in this episode because it is almost bedtime.
    • In the episode's epilogue, Backpack was seen sleeping on the pole of Dora's bed and when it's time for Dora to look how many stars they caught (including Comfy Star), she was being careful not to wake Backpack up by the flashlight when she flashes it on the star pocket.
  • This is the second time Map asks the viewer(s) to say "Map" (first being "Super Map!"), as well as Backpack's first time asking the viewer(s) to say "Backpack!" since they both woke up.
  • This episode premiered the same day as the Season 6 premiere of Zoom.
  • This is the first and only time Comfy Star appears in the show and gets an explorer star mini-game where the viewer has to find her.
  • This is the third episode to focus solely on Boots.
  • This is the third episode where Dora's teddy bear, Osito made an appearance. First being The Lost City and second being Baseball Boots as an item in Backpack.
  • In this episode, Gabriel Alvarez (replacing Andres Dieppa) and Felipe Dieppa voice Diego.
  • Dora and Boots don't sing the Travel Song in this episode, because they were in a huge rush to get Boots’ plush dinosaur back before sunset, leaving them no time to sing it. However, if they did sing it, they would most likely not be able to find Boots' cuddly dinosaur in time, so they had to skip the Travel Song to save some time to find it.
  • Although this episode premiered in 2004, it was produced in 2002 according to the end credits.
  • When the Fiesta Trio says, "Estrellas!" the audio is taken from What Happens Next?.
  • This episode seems similar to ¡Rápido, Tico!. There are a couple of similarities to the aforementioned episode.
    • Boots looks in his bag and he could not find his dinosaur, similar to Boots looking in the box, but the toy firetruck is not there.
    • Dora and Boots race to where his lost item is located.
      • However, there are also some difference between this and the aforementioned episode, including:
        • The reason why Dora and Boots had to hurry is because the sun is going down instead of Swiper trying to swipe it.
        • There is no character who helps them out the whole trip.
        • The Travel Song was not even featured once.
        • Dora and Boots return home after getting Boots' dinosaur.
  • After Dora says, "We couldn't have done it without you. Thanks for helping. Gracias!" quietly, she goes to sleep with Boots instead of waving goodbye.
  • During the scene where Dora and Boots are at Play Park, the dinosaur can be seen for a few moments in the sandbox as they are heading for the slide.
  • This marks the first time where Dora and Boots says "Wake up, (character)!" to wake someone up, like how The Wiggles do when they wake up Jeff or Lachy, but unlike The Wiggles, Dora and Boots don't count to three before doing that. In this case, they said "Wake up, Map!" to wake Map up, then said "Wake up, Backpack!" to wake Backpack up.
    • The second time will be in Benny's Big Race, where Dora, Boots, and Benny say "Wake up, sloth!" to wake up the sleeping sloth.
    • The third time will be in All Aboard the Giant Panda Express! of Diego's show, where Diego said "Wake up, Giant Panda!" to wake up Grandpa Panda.
    • The fourth time will be in Dora and the Very Sleepy Bear, where Dora and Boots said, "Wake up, Baby Bear!" to wake Baby Bear up, then Dora said "Wake up, Boots!" to wake Boots up.

  • iTunes lists this episode as "Boot's Cuddly Dinosaur". The apostrophe is before the "S" instead of after. Also, in the credits, it said "Boots's Cuddly Dinosaur", where an extra "S" is added after the apostrophe.
  • When Dora and Boots leave Dora's House to find Boots' cuddly dinosaur, they just start taking off (just as the sun going down) to Play Park without first checking in on Mami and Papi to let them know where they're going. In real life, this is very unsafe for children to do because one could get kidnapped or even get hurt, if he/she just takes off running without letting his/her family know where he/she is off to before taking off, especially at night (although they might've told them off-screen).
